2011 MACBOOK PRO 13 INCH SPECS PC

I was able to cut a HD video and publish it to facebook in much less time using iMovie than it used to take me to attempt to edit videos on my pc with this Kodak software. The processing speed is much better than I thought it would be. So light, so quiet, doesn't get hot, starts up in like 5 seconds, looks awesome. She (and I) are still getting used to it since it's our first Mac, but so far it's awesome. For now, the 13-inch MacBook Air is hard to beat. Of course, I said the same thing about the 27-inch iMac when it was released, and now, thanks to the Air, I really wish the iMac had an SSD. It's not often I say this about a product, but I'm not sure how I'd improve the current 13-inch MacBook Air. I often find myself using it in place of my iMac, simply because it's so fast and easy to pick up and use. I use it a lot more than I did the first Air. It has everything I loved about the original and adds speed, battery life, a far better trackpad with multitouch, and lots of subtle improvements. I didn't use the first Air much, which was a shame given the cost. The new one gets the formula right. It was slow, took too long to boot, and its battery life was short. I loved the idea of that first MacBook Air more than the reality of it. I upgraded from the very first MacBook Air, which I purchased shortly after it was announced in February 2008. Navigating the OS with the trackpad is a real pleasure. It starts up in about 15 seconds and resumes from sleep almost instantly. It runs for hours without a charge. It's gorgeous, and the case is subtly more functional than the previous designLion feels great on this device. The thunderbolt port may sound quite exciting but it doesn't support anything less that a good 30k so it will be lesser used than talked about. There are a lot of new Ultrabooks coming up which offer a cheaper alternate so, if you plan on buying a thin laptop, research the market and then decide. The build is solid except an occasional creaking which is quite frustrating after you'e paid over 70k for a device. If you plan on using it for heavy applications, your better buy a cooling pad cause when it gets heated up, there is no stopping this baby. The display, the webcam and the scarcity of ports are the three things that suck but again are enough for their purposes. The keyboard is well laid out and is a breeze to type on. It just forms a silent companion and pretty soon, you're going to have trouble working with the average thick laptop. It will entertain you, handle your average daily life tasks and look awesome all at the same time. This is a machine which doesn't even let you know it's there. But it is tough to criticize this piece of hardware, especially when there nothing that competes with it in terms of price, design, and performance. You should also examine your media habits to see if the hard drive space will accomodate your media library. Naturally you should visit your local Apple Store to see if the size and form factor agrees with you. This is partially alleviated if you use cloud-based media services, but when on the road without wireless 3G/4G you really notice the memory limitations of this device. That being said, this is one of the few gadget purchases I've made where I had almost no complaints or regrets (and was consistently pleasantly surprised with its performance). While the Air is a wonderful device to take while traveling, its capacity for music and movies is limited by its 128 gb hard drive space.

The only drawback would be the limited memory of the system (as well as the inability to expand the memory without voiding your warranty, and even then the process is made more difficult thanks to Apple's unique SSD layout). The performance, which is aided to a large extent by the SSD memory, is robust and snappy - easily matching other laptops that lack the Air's ultraportable form factor. The Air is incredible light, but feels solid and well made (and indeed mine has survived a few falls from desk height). The design and the performance stand out the most. I purchased my first Macbook a few years ago and was quite impressed with the usability of the OS, but after upgrading to the Macbook Air it is clear that this product was designed with a level of detail that you can't really find anywhere else.
